Turney watched Octavius scrapbooking, only vaguely paying attention to the conversation going on around him.
The vampire was pasting in pictures of each of the places theyâd visited the day beforeâeven the pet store, diner, and craft store were there. When the hell did Octavius take these pictures?
On second thought, he no doubt sent poor Henry out to take them after the fact. Probably sometime early in the morningâ¦
Shaking his head, he tried to focus on the task at handâthe case, or what they all found the day before.
âSo, you discovered little?â Octavius mused, gaze never leaving his scrapbook to look up at who he was talking to.
Turney sighed inwardly when Octavius grabbed a bottle of mod podge, and proceeded to coat one of the pictures before dumping a least a pound of green glitter on top. At least he dumped the excess back into the bottle. It did actually match the picture, with it being a photo of Mr. Heathcrestâs home.
âThe first person was as described. Unfortunately, we did not meet the second victim. But weâll try again today.â Scarlett shrugged.
âWe did, however, have Eshla call to let Lora Jules know we were coming by again. Hopefully, she lets us in.â
âSheâs human, right?â Turney asked.
âCorrect,â Scarlett confirmed.
Octavius nodded and said, âThough Iâm not sure we will learn more, I suppose you can at least confirm how far her obsession has gone.â
âIf she is like Heathcrest, but with paranoia, you two may want to be careful,â Turney warned. Though he wasnât sure how serious a threat a human would be to a zombie and a witch.
Scarlett shrugged, appearing not too worried.
âNoted,â Min-ji said.
Octavius hummed. âSo your paranormal victim is believed to be the latest victim, and appeared to be just as described. Which fits if he was just enchanted. However, the paranormal we met was starting to revert back.â
âIt makes sense,â Min-ji mused, and then explained, âparanormals do have some defense against magic. If the spell is not tailored to each individual paranormal, the magic weakening over time would be normal. That being said, very few humans have any sort of defense against spells, so tailoring isnât necessary. And as you witnessed, the human you checked out is in a worse state than described. I think it is safe to assume any human affected wonât revert back on their own.â
It made sense to Turney. Well, it made about as much sense as most of the paranormal shit he dealt with did.
In the most monotone voice Turney had ever heard, Cormac asked, âFind anything in the underground markets?â
One would have to be oblivious to not notice that the werewolf did not actually care. But, there was now a black glittery poster up on the wall that read, To Cormac: Docked pay or a question a day in giant white letters. Interestingly enough, the glitter used was the âlimitedâ edition bat glitter Octavius had siphoned from the older woman the day before. Octavius had put the glitter into the design of a wolf around the letters.
