Fisher loved playing pranks on those living in the buildings. At one point, a bust of him was moved to another floor and kept moving, making a diamond pattern with its movements. The bust then moved in different ways, creating the shape of his initials before it finally disappeared. Those who lived there also claimed he stole a variety of things from people in the building, usually around the theater.

Fisher Hall was also home to the ghost of a former student named Ronald Tammen. Tammen’s roommate arrived back to their room on April 19, 1953, and found no sign of the young man. Despite the cold outside, his coat lay draped across the chair, and his books were left sitting open. He was never seen or heard from again. Even though the building is gone, some students believe that the ghosts still live within the new conference center.

Helen Peabody likes to haunt the building named after her. Originally named Seminary Hall, Peabody Hall dates back to 1855. In 1861 and again in 1871, the building caught fire and was rebuilt by the school. Peabody founded the Western Seminary. Western Seminary and Miami University merged in 1974, and the school remodeled the building but kept the name. Students claim to see things move and hear weird noises. Room 210 is supposedly the most haunted. A former student committed suicide in the room, and it was also the site of another suicide.

Reid Hall was haunted by a murder that occurred in the building in 1959. On May 9 of that year, Resident Advisor Roger Sayles attempted to break up a fight between two students. One of the students shot and killed Sayles during the altercation. He ran from the building and into nearby Ogden Hall before turning the gun on himself. Students claimed to see a bloody handprint on the wall exactly where Sayles fell after being shot. Stories of weird noises were also told. Miami University tore down the building in 2007.

There’s also Wilson Hall, which was used as a tuberculosis hospital prior to the college taking over. The ghosts of patients who died there now haunt the building. Students have heard the sounds of people moaning and found furniture moved or tipped over. Students also claim to feel someone watching them and have items moved to different places while they’re sleeping.

A more generic story is told about a woman wearing a black dress. Students believe that she was once a student at the school, and they see her standing in line at the cafeteria. Dozens of students have seen her over the years, but all they remember is her dress and the sad expression on her face.

Just outside of Oxford is Buckley Road, which is home to several different versions of the same story. Buckley Road runs off 732 and is the exact spot where a bicyclist was killed. A car came around the corner quickly, striking him down.
