“Oh, my God, did that just happen?” Casey asked. His heart was racing and pounding so hard he thought it might rip right out of his chest.

“Keep moving,” Khan instructed tersely, putting an insistent hand on his back and pushing him forward.

The tone was the same as before they’d run into Akachi, and his breath froze in his chest for a second as Casey was suddenly aware of the feeling of being chased. But he didn’t dare look back.

Ducking his head, Casey walked faster, lengthening his strides to try to match Khan’s long legs. “What’s going on?”

“When I say go, run and keep going until you’re above ground,” Khan ordered tersely, dropping back.

“What? Where will you be?” He tried to turn around, but Khan’s tight grip stopped him.

“Right behind you.” Khan’s answer didn’t ring completely true. However, there was no time to question it because Khan’s hand left his back and Khan yelled for him to run. “Go!”
