Nine

The superhero movie had been out for a couple weeks, so the theater was not terribly crowded. It was one of those theaters with stadium seating and big, comfy recliners. Fiona let Sam pick their seat and was surprised when he guided her toward the upper tier. They settled in the center of a row. There were several rows up behind them, but no one sat in them. The theater was chilly, and her nipples were hard points that seemed to hypnotize Sam. Neither of them had commented on her lack of a bra so far, but he was staring so hard now that she couldn’t ignore it any longer.

“Want to snap a picture?” she asked, as she settled into her seat.

“Can I?” Sam excitedly replied.

Fiona gave him a look, her crooked smile sliding to the right.

“Do you really think I’m going to let you walk around with a picture of my boobs in your phone?”

“You can trust me, Fiona.”

“I don’t even trust Josh with that.”

“Okay,” Sam glumly replied.

It was the truth. Josh asked Fiona to text him sexy pictures all the time, and she refused. Her typical response was that if he wanted to see her naked, he had to come home and see her in the flesh. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust her husband, but he was also a typical guy, and Fiona didn’t want him to be tested with the temptation of having pictures of her to show to one of his friends. Fiona knew all his friends pretty well and would be mortified if she thought Josh may have shared a naked photo of her. It was better to keep that private. But she was more tempted by Sam than she’d ever been with her husband. Sam was not a typical guy, for starters. Fiona believed she could trust Sam with a photo of her. It was exciting to imagine Sam looking at her photo and jerking off. But someone else could get hold of Sam’s phone and she would be exposed.

Fiona was prepared for the chilly theater and threw the sweater she’d brought around her shoulders—much to Sam’s disappointment. He probably needed the break to calm down anyway, she thought. She pressed the button to recline her seat, popped on her 3-D glasses, and was ready to go.

They commented on the trailers, sharing which movies they’d like to see. Josh wasn’t much of a movie goer and Fiona didn’t see as many movies as she’d like in the theater. Sam would make a great movie buddy, she thought. It didn’t seem as if her husband would mind. It was a shame Sam would be returning to college in the fall.

Sam held the tub of popcorn in his lap and Fiona moved closer, rather than continually stretching to reach it. She suspected he kept it in that position to make her brush against him to retrieve her snacks. Fiona didn’t mind. The theater darkened further, and her mind turned to the movie.

The superhero movie was big, loud, and a lot of fun.
