CHAPTER ELEVEN

Landon was sitting at his kitchen table drinking coffee when Gage walked into the kitchen. He looked so damn good that Landon wanted to take him back to bed and lick every inch of his body. Gage leaned down and gave him a kiss before going over to the coffee pot and making himself a cup. Landon watched every move he made from pouring the coffee in the cup to watching his throat when Gage swallowed his first sip. Gage sat down across from him, looked at his phone then sat it on the table before looking over at him.

“I wanted to ask you something last night before you fell asleep. I’m taking a mini vacation after the party tonight. I didn’t know if you could take time off and maybe go with me? I’m making some changes when I come back but right now I need a few days away from it all to relax and regroup.”

“Can I ask where you’re going? I mean, I need to speak with Garrick this morning to see what all is going on after this stupid mayor thing in the park tonight, but I would love to go with you. Thank you for inviting me.”

“I’m going down to Turks & Caicos Islands for three or four days. I want to leave on Monday and come back Wednesday or Thursday. Will you let me know when you find out so we can get airline tickets for you? I’m probably going to be out until daylight in the morning since the club isn’t closing until four a.m. so you can text me anytime and let me know.”

“I will. I need to get going now. Garrick told us to be in the office no later than ten this morning so that we can go over everything again for this event in the park. I hate being security for our dumb fuck of a mayor, but it’s my job. I can’t wait until it’s re-election time. Maybe the people will be smart and vote for someone else this time. Anyway, take all the time you need here. You know the code to set the alarm. I’ll text you as soon as I know something.”

Landon got up and put his cup in the sink. He walked back over to Gage and kissed him one more time before grabbing his wallet, keys and gym bag. He heard Gage say something like “sexy fucker” when he walked out the door making him smile. Yep, today might be fucked up, but Landon knew one thing or should he say one person that he could think about that would help his day a little better.

The precinct was busy as hell when he walked in. Landon saw new faces and old ones walking around. Some were huddled in groups looking at maps and making plans for the fireworks and speech the mayor would be making later that night to kick off the new year. He ignored them all and walked to the Pen.
