Amy was still in a daze when she walked out of the parish church, her first time with a man but moments earlier. The sun had official risen on the day, bright and high, and the town was actually starting to come to life along with the warmth. She could see the students filing into the schoolhouse where she’d spent so many years of her life.

She wanted to rush back there and ask her teacher, Mr. Muran, for advice. Everything that had happened with the Father had been so confusing. Leaving her head a mess. Yet she knew she still had one more man to convince before she could get her job as a teaching assistant. And then she’d work side by side with Mr. Muran.

The town hall, small as it was, sat right there but a stone’s throw away.

She made her way on over, pushed her way through the door to find the secretary just settling in, the older woman looking up with surprise at her.

“Oh, good morning Amy,” she said, because of course everyone knew everyone in that little town of hers. “Shouldn’t you be at school? It’s your last day before summer break, but I never took you as the type to miss anything,” she said in a warm, kindly fashion.

“Mr. Muran has requested I speak to the Mayor, Ma’am,” she said respectfully with a soft bow to her head. Her blue eyes flit upwards as she smiled, that brown braid still coiled around her neck.

She tugged the navy blue blazer over her chest a little tighter, though with how large her breasts were and how ill fitted her school uniform was, it was impossible. The navy contrasted against the tan of her skin, and she set down her book bag.

“Would you be able to check if he’s available?”

“Oh,” the woman said simply, sounding a little saddened. “Sorry to say this, dear, but the Mayor’s out of the office today. He went fishing with an old friend, you see,” she remarked with a gentle smile. “Off by the lake, down from the river,” she stated. “So you’ll have to try back tomorrow. Should I book you an appointment?” she asked.

“Sure,” Amy said with a smile, but she had other plans. She’d simply go down and convince him that very day. There was no way she could sleep if she didn’t have it resolved.

She rolled up on her toes, her maryjanes helping her be a bit taller than normal, as she felt the air brush past her bare slit.

After a brief arrangement of an appointment, Amy set out with her backpack on. She headed to the river, which wasn’t hard, since everyone knew where it was. All the farms in the area had little drainages off from it to fuel the crops on their land after all.
