Chapter 29
Sophia could sense that Jacob was preoccupied and had become distant. He was always looking at his phone, had minimal conversation, wasnât interested in doing things together anymore and he seemed moody and snappy towards her, but she had no idea why.
Whenever she tried to ask Jacob if something were wrong, he dismissed it, didnât want to talk and would brush it off as if he was always busy.
Sophia noticed that he took a lot longer to reply whenever she messaged him and he wasnât returning her calls like he always would. It was an odd situation because it was usually Jacob who initiated the messages and who would communicate frequently with cute little notes and funny pictures to keep her smiling throughout the day. But Sophia noticed that none of this was happening anymore.
At first, she thought nothing of it, but it soon became the new pattern. Jacob wasnât starting any of the conversations like he always used to. She wasnât getting the usual âhave a good dayâ lovey-dovey morning messages or receiving wake up calls from him. Maybe this was a sign that she needed to put in more effort and to initiate these conversations. But the more effort that Sophia put in, the less Jacob would respond. She realised that Jacob was only replying when an actual question was asked.
Maybe this was just the relationship transitioning into a new phase where all that cute conversation was starting to die down and it was just business as usual. It was quite disheartening, but Sophia thought it was best not to look into it too much. People always said that the honeymoon wouldnât last forever and this was probably what they meant. It hurt her heart, but she thought it was best to just leave it be and not to bring up the topic too much.
But Sophia loved Jacob with all her heart and soul. She was so happy with Jacob and the moment she met him she had an immediate spark. They connected seamlessly in so many ways. She knew that she had met her soulmate and life partner and envisioned a happy future together. Jacob was a loyal, loving and thoughtful person who Sophia could rely upon to be there for her through the ups and downs that life had to offer. They fought from time to time, but nothing out of the ordinary really.
In recent times though, it seemed there was a distance that she couldnât quite pinpoint. They fought more often about small issues and at times she questioned whether he was really the one for her, was she just mistaking herself with a blurred image of what they really had?
Though, it didnât take long before that negative thinking left her mind and she realised that she was being silly and rash and the love for him returned. She knew that she couldnât live without him, he was her everything. There was not a day that went by that she didnât think about Jacob and the love that she felt for him.
