Back at their hotel room, she moved silently next to Jason into bed, and held him tight. He felt warm and fuzzy. She went to sleep feeling more accomplished than getting an A in algebra class at UCLA. Her pleasant dreams were about her new life, especially with Diane and Serin. She knew Diane would return.
Tomorrow, they would leave Romania to continue adventures.

Ready to leave Romania, Jason felt the place had lived up to the billing as mystical. Eloise felt the romance, and was aware of a transformationâshe was changed forever, and felt gifted.
They boarded the early morning train headed for Budapest, Hungary.
Diane had warned them about the Gypsies. They hang around train stations, sometimes ride the trains, looking for a chance to steal. She had pointed out several in Sibiu, and said many Gypsies who live in Romania and Hungary are notorious for trickery and thievery. Jason recalled the word âgyp,â derived from the word Gypsy.
Just gotta be extra careful! he thought.
After two hours on the train, they were sleepy, and dozed. When wide-awake, they usually kept an eye on their backpacks resting on the baggage rack overhead.
Tootsie began to bark which alerted them. In another minute, a gypsy woman, dressed in the usual bright skirt and gold jewelry around her neck, poked her head in their compartment. It wasnât till she went on down the isle that Tootsie stopped barking.
Jason patted him on the head, petted him, and gave him a doggie bone. He said, âThank youâyou clever hound.â
Stepping off the train at old and dingy Budapest station, tired and bored, they looked first for a pension. There were many âRoom Availableâ signs in building windows. The first one they looked at brought barks from Tootsie. âThis place wonât do,â said Jason. After checking out two more, they took the one Tootsie didnât bark at, and settled in. Eloise commented on how debonair the young clerk was. An attractive really buxom middle-age woman was the owner.
She showed them to their roomâmodest, but tidy. Eloise noticed the string of garlic cloves over the doorway. Pointing to them, she asked, âAre those decorations or what?â
âOh no, Madam, they protect you from Nora, small humanoids that jump on victims and suck their breasts causing the chest and boobs to swell.â
âI could stand some breast augmentation anyway,â Eloise murmured. She looked at the ownerâs chest, and figured she must have experienced a Nora or two.
âI hope you will enjoy your stay here, Madam. Read the instructions on the desk for other matters to keep you safe, yesâgood day.â She smiled sweetly, and she left.
Eloise picked up the room instructions, and read aloud. âIn Budapest, we have demon spirits called lidec. The belief goes back to ancient times. They come during sleep or nightmares. The male, called incubus has sexual intercourse with females. The female, called succubus seduces men. Defensive measures include a garter on the doorknob and liberal use of garlic. Cloves are in the refrigerator.â They glanced at the doorknobâsure enough
