All three men turned to her with fierce expressions.

‘He was riding pillion with me when he’ – she pointed at Mac – ‘pulled us over. I never said a thing about Phoenix to Jesse.’

K2 and Viking glared at Mac.

‘What? Last time I checked I’m still the Sergeant at Arms. It’s my job to protect the club however I see necessary.’

‘And you thought you’d do that by kidnapping a cop?’ Viking spat out.

‘We needed leverage to be sure she’d tell the truth. She’s been going around asking questions about Phoenix. And we had to find out if the cop thought we were somehow connected to her sister’s death.’

‘And what’s your plan for the cop now?’ The tone in Viking’s voice sent a chill up Gen’s spine.

‘You can still leave Jesse out of it. I swear I haven’t said a word about your club to him.’ Her gaze darted between the three men. ‘I’ll tell him I have no idea who took us today. That you were all masked, demanded to know why I was at the house in Windsor, and that was it.’

‘That’ll only work if he doesn’t report today,’ said Viking.

‘I’ll make sure he doesn’t.’ God knows how, but she had to make sure they didn’t hurt him.

K2 leant forward. ‘What happened in Windsor?’

Gen ran through the events again.

K2 turned to Viking. ‘Can you ask Feral to look into the two bikers?’

Viking gave an exasperated huff.

‘Feral?’ Gen asked.

‘He’s our . . .’ Mac paused, then smirked. ‘Our computer expert, the one who found where you live.’

‘How?’

‘Not hard through the Redline store loyalty program,’ said a skinny man leaning on the doorjamb of the adjoining room. He had long brown hair that hadn’t seen shampoo for a while.

‘Shut it, Feral,’ Viking snapped.

She hadn’t even noticed Feral enter the room. He might be her only chance to find anything on the men at the farm. ‘Can you find out who the bikers were?’

Feral grinned but said nothing.

She turned to Viking imploringly. ‘Please, those men might be involved in Amber’s murder.’

‘Think about what happened today thanks to your poking around,’ Mac said. ‘Other clubs won’t be nearly as hospitable.’

Viking stood. ‘Best leave it be.’ He moved towards the bar and Gen stepped in his way.

‘I’m not going to stop until I find out what happened to my sister.’

Viking stared down at her.

She expelled a breath, couldn’t manage another, pinned by his gaze.

His focus moved over her shoulder, in Feral’s direction.

‘There are two MCs with competing territory around Windsor,’ Feral said. ‘Want me to look into it?’

K2 put a hand on her shoulder blade. ‘Come on, son, I owe her.’

Viking pointed in her face. ‘That cop better not tie us to anything.’

‘He won’t.’ Gen met his glare. ‘I promise.’

Viking nodded to Feral. ‘See what you can find.’

K2 squeezed her shoulder then joined Feral and chatted quietly with him.

Viking looked back down at her. ‘You best be on your way.’

‘What about Jesse?’

‘Raz is with him,’ Mac said.

‘Tell him to get to the hardware store at the Crossroads and keep the cop in the SUV till Gen pulls in to the car park.
