Manny Trubello prided himself on being untouchable. He had spent a great deal of time and money building an impenetrable shield around himself and his business. Ranging from lowly cops to billionaires and politicians, he had an elaborate network on his payroll and under his thumb. If anyone dared to cross him, they ended up tortured and dead. If it was a particularly heinous betrayal, he would take his wrath out on someone they held dear. He had been so ruthless no-one had crossed him for several years…until now.

He possessed a keen sixth sense, and when he suspected someone was up to no good he’d put them to the test. Though Boris Federov was under his umbrella, he was free to run his Russian gang however he chose. But Manny had spies high up in Boris’s camp. When one of them reported hearing Boris talk about stealing a priceless necklace in Manny’s vault, he sent in one of his men to pose as a buyer.

Boris had taken the bait.

Now he was dead and his crime family was in chaos. Manny would send in a crew and take over. But there was another mobster in the mix. Franco Giancana. Though they’d been childhood friends, Manny wasn’t about to let him take over Boris’s family, and he knew he’d been trying.

Then there was Donovan Blake. His spy had told him Boris had hired the well known billionaire to steal the necklace. Though Manny had wondered why Donovan would be interested, he didn’t ponder the question for very long. He’d learned people did all sorts of things that appeared to make no sense, and Donovan had been on his radar for a while. The man owned one of the most successful BDSM club’s in the country. He was considered the King of Kings, and Manny wanted the title.

He’d deal with Franco first.

Franco and Boris had been embroiled in a power struggle, but to the victor go the spoils.

Manny was the victor.

Boris’s family and money now belonged to him.

To eliminate any doubt, Manny planned to tell Franco in person.

An invitation to the Masquerade Ball had already been delivered.

“Manny? What’s wrong?”

Turning around he saw his long-time girlfriend, Candy Bright, walk into the room. Though her real surname was Barrow, Manny always used Bright. She’d brightened up his life when they first started dating, and that had never changed.

“Just business shit,” he muttered. “Get over here.”

As she sidled up to him he stared down at her bounteous breasts. Even after the years they’d been together, he was still utterly enamored with her curves.

“Does my manly man need me?” she purred, moving her arms around his neck.

“Damn right, I do,” he growled, reaching around her waist and jerking her against him. “Why the fuck are you so hot?”

“You ask me that all the time,” she replied with a giggle.

“Only because I still don’t know. Stay here.”

Marching back to the door, he turned the bolt, then hurried back to his desk and unplugged his phone.
