While driving to the bar, Seth’s thoughts started to overtake him again. His mind raced between the cases, and what each one of the victims had to say. Then he started to think about Moore. Oh my god, what an asshole. A little part of me really wants to send him to jail. And yet, there’s another part of me that’s going to be pissed off if it is actually him. I’ve been doing this damn job for how many years? And this whole time he was right there, in the corner office, no more than thirty feet away from me. How long has he been doing this? Seth wondered.

Quick flashes of Zee popped in his head. That damn smile of hers. Fuckin’ gets me every time. Now all I can think about is that smile when I walked in the yoga studio and she looked up at me, surprised. Seth smiled and his grin stretched from what felt like his chin to his forehead. That girl can make me smile in even the apocalypse.

Pulling up to the bar, Seth looked around for Moore’s car. For sure he would be the kinda dick jockey to bring the squad car to a bar and use it to mack on some chicks. As he would so eloquently put it.

It was a smaller parking lot with only a dozen or so parking spots. Seth backed in the spot near the back. Before turning the car off, he looked around. Only a few, barely over twenty-one-year-old kids were hanging out near the front door smoking. He turned the car off and leaned his head back on the head rest. Watching the front door, Seth could easily see why Moore wanted to meet here. The bar was a new and had just opened a few months ago. Perfectly located smack dab in the middle of two mostly women’s colleges.

Looking over at the clock on the dash board, it read 6:35. Hmm, I may have been wrong, maybe he did drive his POV. The chance for Moore to meet some girls, I don’t think he would be late. Seth hopped out of the car and started to walk in.

As Seth neared the front doors to the bar, a younger kid, no more than a buck fifty looked up at him. He raised his hand up with his thumb and pointer finger motioning to check Seth’s ID. “ID sir?” The kid asked.

“Are you for real?” Seth replied back. “The idea that you just asked me for my ID, then you finished that with the word, sir... if that isn’t irony.”

“House rules, I gotta check everyone.” The kid shrugged.

“Do you know what the law in this city says?” Seth reaching back for his wallet. “And if you’re going to check every one’s ID, then why didn’t you check those four girls that just walked in before me.”

Instead of grabbing his wallet, Seth thought he would have some fun with the kid. Anticipating the kids answer to his question, he pulled out his badge.
