Chapter 19
Kara
December 24, 9:00 PM PST
After Justin left, I braced myself for Torrey and the infamous-face-punching Ky to bust into my lair. Instead they locked my door shut, trudged upstairs, and left me alone. This time at least they left the light on, which was a bit more humane form of imprisonment.
I struggled against the duct tape binds behind my back, hoping that I could stretch it out enough to get a hand free. Only then was it worth approaching the door that appeared to be lockable from both the inside and outside. Otherwise dragging myself across the floor was a waste of valuable energy.
The skin on my wrists chaffed as I wrenched my fists left and right. I wondered if blood was pooling beneath the tape and if that would help loosen the handcuffs or just cause some horrible infection that would turn into gangrene. Really, though, that was the least of my realistic worries at the moment. The most was that I had to go to the bathroom and now that I was conscious and aware as opposed to drugged out and loopy, I didnât want to sit in a puddle of my own piss.
Footsteps pounded down the stairs. I held my breath and felt my heart race against my ribs. If it was Leo, Iâd owe him my life. Iâd give him whatever he wanted. Iâd run away with him and make it so that neither of us had to deal with any of the drama our parents put us through ever.
Oh great. Clearly I was delirious again.
Especially since the door opened and it wasnât Leo. Or Justin. Or Torrey.
âWell, look whoâs awake.â
âKy,â I said to the twentyish-year-old guy in a black hoodie.
âMy reputation precedes me,â he said.
âYeah, your tiny dick is legendary in Las Vegas circles,â I said.
Ky laughed. âOh, you are almost funny.â He pulled down his hood and revealed blond hair buzzed down to his scalp. Blotchy patches of scar tissue covered half his face, from just below his right eye through his neck and down into his shirt.
âIâm at my best when Iâm fed and watered,â I said.
âPoint taken.â He held out a bottle of water. This one unopened. âIâll give you this. After you give me some information.â
I shifted to encourage blood flow into my legs. If I had a chance to rush this guy, I was going for it. Also, I was clearly losing my mind if I thought I had a chance to get past him. I officially knew what it felt like to be delusional for the first time in my life.
âWhat can you tell me about your fatherâs business in Vegas?â
âOh my god, can boys really not communicate? I already told your cohort Torrey that I donât know anything. Jesus Christ, canât you guys just talk to each other and save me from telling the same non-story over and over?â Not only was I delusional, I was exhausted and rambling and didnât know if I could stop myself.
