Strong hands envelop me, pulling me toward the door.

“Get off me, Sol,” I yell, my eyes still fixed on the black mist now consuming Harry as anger surges through me until my body quakes.

Vengeance will be mine.

The thoughts invade my head. The crackle of evil laughter echoing through my mind. Sol hoists me off the ground and hauls me into the stairwell. Ross slams the door behind him and bolts it shut. “We need to move.”

“Terra?” Violet is trembling, her eyes wide and skin pale. “Wh- what was that?”

Not what, I want to say. Who.

Harry is Tartarus.

I knew there was something not right about that guy.

“Call the others,” Sol starts barking orders at Ross, who flanks Violet’s side as we hurry down the stairs. I should feel shocked. Scared, even. But I’m too angry. Harry has everyone fooled, but none more than Amalia. She cares about him. Probably even loves him, and the traitorous piece of shit hurt her to lure me out.

The roof didn’t cave in on its own accord. Harry—Tartarus—orchestrated it. It’s why no one else was injured. He knew Amalia was the way to my heartstrings.

We burst into the first level hallway, trying to blend in with the steady stream of visitors heading home. The storm is no longer rumbling overheard, the rain subsided for now.

“That was H- Harry, right?” Violet chokes out. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so shocked. “That’s what I felt when we were in with Amalia. He was doing something.”

“I’m not sure,” is all I can muster. Part of me wants to double back and check on Amalia, but Sol’s right, we need to leave. Now Tartarus has revealed himself it would suggest we are moving into the final stages of his game.

Which means our time is almost up.

The guys herd us out of the hospital and to the car with record speed. They’re in full protector mode, eyes alert and ready. Sol doesn’t even wait for us to get belted up before he’s speeding toward the safe house. Ross is on the phone to Cael, relaying everything.

Harry.

Tartarus is Harry.

At least the strange vibes I get from him are not just my imagination. But crap, Harry? I didn’t expect it to be someone so close to... things. I’ve hung out with him, albeit reluctantly. Not to mention the fact, we’ve practiced magic with the coven together.

“What did he say to you?” Sol’s gruff voice pulls me from my thoughts and I blink at him through the rear-view mirror.

“What did Harry say?”

“He...” my eyes flutter closed as I hear his voice again.

Vengeance will be mine.

“We need to go back, we need to check on Amalia,” I rush out but the car is already moving.

“One of us will come back,” Ross says. “We need to get you out of he—”

“Fuck,” Sol roars, the car lurching to an abrupt standstill. My eyes widen at the scene before me and Violet gasps.

There are fallen branches everywhere. It looks like a tornado chewed them up and spit them out.
