“Marriage thing? No, I’m not going to tell you which one has just gotten married in a married thing.” The man huffed and told him to hold on. When he must have put his hand over the receiver to talk to someone else, he reached out to Hailey to let her know that her parents were looking for her. When the man came back on the line, Wyatt told him that he was too busy to be put on hold again. “I have people to see and things to do.”

“Why are you all doctors?” The man sounded very perplexed about that, but Wyatt didn’t enlighten him. Wyatt was ready to tell him off when he heard back from Hailey.

I’m assuming that you haven’t told them anything. He said that he hadn’t, it was just too much fun to have them guessing. Yes, well, you might not have thought it was fun if they had gotten into your house. Though, I haven’t the foggiest idea why they were doing that.

I would imagine that they were hoping that you were home, at my house, and that you’d be easy pickings in the middle of the night. She laughed, but he could tell she was strained about this thing. They didn’t bother me, and the pack hasn’t had that much fun chasing someone in months.

I know, but I can’t help but worry about who they might try to target next. I’d have gone to the courthouse to get the information, but I doubt very much that either of them would have a clue how to do that. He told her about the “marriage thing.” Oh, brother. I tell you, I think that Howard is as dumb as a post. I was just wondering who was watching their kids. Or did they just leave them at the hotel?

Wyatt hadn’t thought of that. The children hadn’t been with them when they’d been at his house. He might have to call Children’s Services soon if they were doing that. He asked Hailey if she’d have a problem with that when Howard started talking again.

“Hello, are you still there? I think he hung up on me, Linda.” Wyatt told him he was there, but extremely busy and to get to the point. “I want to congratulate the happy couple is all.”

“You said that you had a gift for them. Now you just want to congratulate them? What is the deal here? Who are you?” The line went dead, and he laughed harder.

Wyatt knew that this was serious business. He was well aware that someone might get hurt before this was done. But for now, he’d keep the others informed of the call, as well as see if the pack could roam all their properties a little more.

No, I don’t have a problem with that. But I’m telling you upfront. If someone contacts me to take the kids in, they can stop that shit right now. They’re heathens, and I would send them to military school just so that someone else could try and beat some sense into their heads.
