"What's in this one?" Baldwin had his mouth full of mashup wrap. He was curled on Murph's stool and he looked absolutely sexy as hell. It was their fifth day in a row of sharing leftovers in his truck. He’d even come to Baldwin’s block after his last shift in another location just to continue their little ritual. Scooter was about to stage a coup if it continued another day without him getting a wrap. He’d informed Murph of that the night before when Murph got home late, happy and exhausted.

Murph hadn't ever dared to picture this moment when he was driving to Baldwin's street every day to see a well-known chef who didn’t have a clue who he was.

Maybe he had, actually. Maybe he'd fantasized about making Baldwin food and feeding it to him, taking him to bed and kissing the sauce right off his lips. But fantasy and reality were two different things and he could barely breathe with Baldwin sitting right in his van moaning around mouthfuls of rice and garlic shrimp.

"Lots of stuff. Bit of shrimp, bit of the Baja fish. You're not allergic to shellfish or anything are you?"

Baldwin snorted. "Think my face would already be swelling up if I was. No, I love shrimp. This tastes like summer."

"I actually want to come up with some new wraps for summer. I think it's time to retire a few of my less popular ones."

"What kind of wraps are you thinking about?"

"Not sure, honestly. I need to do a recipe lab and figure it out."

"Recipe lab. That's cute."

I want to kiss him so bad.

Baldwin had a bit of butter on his lips from the shrimp and they were glossy and full. His jaw was dusted with a few days scruff and he had on a light jacket that made his olive eyes even greener.

It had been getting warmer the past few days. They could easily have another cold snap, but it felt like spring was really hitting Manhattan. It showed in the glow of Baldwin's skin, the way his cheeks and nose were tanned with a few new freckles. Probably from his adventures around town. He'd been trying food trucks and making dishes inspired by them at least three times a week. Murph was a little jealous that he wasn't getting all of Baldwin’s attention anymore. But he was still getting a lot of it for sure.

"I started calling it that a while ago. I don't know why. Scooter and I did one day and it just stuck."

"Scooter. Roommate?"

"Yep. Chef. Works at the Plaza."

Baldwin whistled. "Fancy."

"Not my scene." Murph grimaced. “But I’m happy to eat his food any day of the week. He’s seriously gifted.”

"Did you meet each other at culinary school?" Baldwin asked.

"Yeah, but I'm from here. Brooklyn." He didn't know why he felt the need to tell Baldwin things about himself. Maybe the facts would make their connection more real – like they really knew each other and weren't just sharing a few leftovers in his van.
