“But this is an expert witness on fingerprinting,” Hurley said.

“That may be,” Mason said. “I have no objection to his testifying that this is the fingerprint of an index finger on someone’s right hand. My objection is that he identifies it as the fingerprint of Dr. Maiden.”

“Oh, I see,” Hurley said, smiling. “Well, we can fix that up right away. We’ll stipulate that the motion may be granted, Your Honor, and the answer stricken until we have laid a proper foundation.”

Hurley turned to the witness. “Now, Mr. Lomax, have you examined the fingerprints of Dr. Summerfield Maiden?”
