Chapter Five

The strange dragon ran his hand slowly down her stomach. “Usually we wait to enjoy our queen together, but I’ve waited so long already.” His hand touched her mound. “Perhaps a little taste wouldn’t hurt.”

Like hell!

She struggled to get away from him, kicking, screaming, biting, but the hand that gripped her arm was like steel. A touch that told her there was no escape.

At last, he pinned both her arms behind her back, holding them in one of his much larger hands, leaving his free hand to run down her stomach once more. His erect cock nudged her from behind.

Her terror made it hard for her to breathe. I can’t let this happen!

Her skin crawled, then a ripple spread beneath it. Something was happening. The places her dragons had released their seed on her heated. Goose bumps raced along her skin. And her vision began to change. Images flashed before her eyes. Of a female dragon all bowed down before.

Me!

I am a dragon queen. I will not be violated by this shifter. I will not allow my mates to die at the hands of a dishonorable enemy. The words vibrated through her mind, filled with magic. With power.

She screamed as painful flames erupted on her skin. The fire burned her body. Destroyed the flesh that was once her own, coming and going in a flash that left her mind spinning. And then, she knew, she had changed.

Shifted.

Turning her massive dragon head, she stared down at the stranger who had fallen back as she transformed. Without a thought, she grasped him in one taloned-hand and threw him off the balcony. She didn’t wait to see if he’d shifted to save himself from the fall. Her dragons were in trouble.

Launching herself into the air, she roared as she broke into the center of the battle. But she didn’t stop there, even as she felt the eyes of the warring dragons on her. She spun as she rose, spreading her wings wide. Deep blue flames erupted from her lips, and she spouted them, lighting the night sky.

Our queen has awoken! Sapphire’s hushed words blossomed in his mind.

We thought it impossible. Azure’s voice was even softer.

Colbalt’s words were loud and certain. She is glorious.

The dragons had stopped their battles. Her dragons were bloodied, their wings torn in small gashes that disturbed her soul. My faithful mates, what have they done to you?

But the other dragons? She was pleased that they were wounded too, if not as badly. Most dragons would have been easily defeated so soon after releasing their seed. But not her dragons, they would not give her up, even if it cost them their lives.

Which it will not!

She roared again, a challenge in the sound. If the strange dragons who intended to steal her wanted to do so against her will, they would have to fight her. And few male dragons would truly harm a female, even if it meant losing her as their mate.

Females are too rare for such recklessness, but we shall see how desperate this harem is.
