hey’d been in here the entire time, of course. When she woke up earlier and checked the clock, Bram was on the couch, and Julian was on the inflatable bed. She shoots me a look, then pushes up into a sittin’ position. Julian is diggin’ through the refrigerator, and Bram is still on the couch, but now his back is against the closest arm, and he’s facin’ away from us.

They’re doin’ a great job keepin’ themselves busy and distracted, but there’s no way they hadn’t heard most of our conversation.

I meant everythin’ I’d said to her before we’d started the familiar back-and-forth volleyin’.

When her and Bram were headin’ out and Julian said somethin’ about their empath connection bein’ different all of a sudden, all I could think about was her leavin’ and not comin’ back… and wonderin’ if it was my fault that she’d started changin’ her mind. Wouldn’t be the first time I’d fucked up and lost someone important to me.

As a teen, my counselor told me to just always be honest and treat people proper. If I was doin’ everythin’ I could do, then I could move on knowin’ I wasn’t ta blame when change and loss came… again.

So, I’d promised myself right then, watchin’ her taillights disappear in the distance, that I’d tell her my feelin’s straight out when she got back. That way I would at least know I did my best.

If she came back. She’d given me no reason to believe she wouldn’t, but I was conditioned to expect it.

This mornin’, bein’ honest with her and openin’ up felt fuckin’ fantastic. I was about to open up even more, but when she shared that fear imprint with me I stopped, realizin’ she doesn’t need to listen to my baggage when she’s got enough on her mind as it is.

Maybe another day.

Thessaly sighs and leans against the headboard.

“What’s wrong, Darlin’? I thought you’d be down with a little exhibitionism.” Time to play again. She really screwed herself over, narrating that fetish song for me. I’ll never let her live it down.

Her eyes flick from me to Julian and back again. Then to Bram. Then back to me.

Huh, she’s actually considerin’ the possibilities of what this group relationship might lead to. Just knowin’ she was toyin’ with the idea, I couldn’t fuckin’ smile bigger if I tried.

The gears in her head are just a turnin’ — I can’t help myself: “Oh, that will definitely happen,” I whisper in her ear. Both Julian and I takin’ her at the same time. Fuck yes.

She doesn’t even skip a beat. “Word,” she whispers.

Damn she’s somethin’ else. I laugh, pokin’ fun at her desperation. “Nope. Not until I get you to myself first.”

Jokes aside, that’s the damn truth.

She pouts, both visibly and audibly. “You guys love torturing me, don’t you?”

Julian sits next to her and hands over a plate of sliced tomatoes. “Yes we do, cuore mio. I saw that look you gave me. What was going through your head?”

“Allow me,” I offer.
