The gang decided to break for the night, going out to explore the village for dinner and a little shopping.

They went to a noodle house where Max and Kalina ate bowls and bowls of noodles of all type. “Eat up!” Max shoved one bowl after another towards Kalina. “You need your strength.”

“I’m eating as much as I can,” Kalina said with her mouth full. “This isn’t an all-you-can-eat buffet, you know.”

“It’s delicious, that’s what it is,” Max said, gulping down another bowl of noodles. After her fifth bowl, she got up and excused herself. “I’m going to find the restroom.”

The vampires Jaegar, Octavius, Justin, and Stuart looked around, pretending to eat their bowls of noodles with relish. Instead, they were all too aware of the hot warm blood flowing through the veins of the noodle house’s patrons.

Justin slammed down his teacup. “This tea is good, but I am going to faint if I don’t get any food.”

“Be discreet,” Octavius said.

“I’m starving, myself,” Jaegar said.

“Where is vampire wine when you need it?” Stuart asked. “Note to myself, continue the manufacturing and distributing of vampire wine everywhere, especially to China.” Stuart got up. “I’m going to find some red wine. It’s something to sustain my appetite, but after being human for a while, taking blood from another human just isn’t very appealing to me.”

Justin stood up and left the table, going outside.

“I’m sorry,” Octavius said to Kalina, kissing her cheeks. “I must eat or I can’t fight.” He got up and left the restaurant.

“What about you?” Kalina asked Jaegar.

“I’m staying right here,” he said. “Even the thought of taking someone’s blood unwillingly is becoming distasteful to me.”

“Oh?” Kalina asked. “You used to boast that you will take what you want whenever you wanted. What happened?”

Jaegar fixed his eyes on her eyes and moved down to her full lips. “To tell you the truth, Kalina...you happened.”

He kissed Kalina softly for a long time while slipping his fingers through hers. They kept kissing for a while, sitting in the middle of the noodle house, while everyone stopped eating and started watching them.

“Hey, stop pushing me,” Stuart’s voice exploded from the back of the room, at the doorway of the kitchen. “I just want some more red wine. Vampire wine, if you have any.” He slurred his words and stumbled out.

A waiter carrying a tray of food walked past him and he stumbled over him, sending the food flying all over a table of rough-looking men and splattering their suits. “I don’t feel too well,” Stuart said before barfing over one of them.

The man stood up, a look of disgust and anger making his face look almost cartoonish red.

“Hey, I’m sorry,” Stuart said. “I’ll clean it up.” He began wiping the man’s shirt with the man’s tie. “I hope it doesn’t stain, but red wine on white is killer to get out.”

“Stop touching me, you Ass!” the man bellowed. He looked over at his friends at the table. “Get this ass to take his hands
