As we laid there in the afterglow of our lovemaking session, trying to catch our breath, my stomach growled unexpectedly causing us both to laugh—me in embarrassment, Spencer in amusement.

“I guess it’s time for dinner,” I said blushing.

Spencer kissed my cheek and smiled. “I was hoping you’d say that. Come along,” he replied, slapping my bare ass.

I laughed, jumping up out of the bed and then glared at him dubiously. “What are you up to, Mr. Ford?”

“You’ll see soon enough, my sweet Emily,” he winked. “Now get dressed—or not—and meet me out on the beach,” he said, stepping back into his pants and buttoning his shirt.

I shot him a look and said, “I will get dressed, thank you.” And he shrugged as if to say, ‘Suit yourself.’

“Is this okay?” I asked, scrunching my nose and holding up the dress I’d just taken off. I really didn’t feel like having to dig through my suitcase for something else. I was just so exhausted between the incredibly long flight, the time change, our sexual escapades and an empty stomach.

“Of course, my darling,” Spencer said as he came over and kissed my lips. “You could wear a potato sack for all I care. Or, again, nothing,” he teased.

I rolled my eyes, causing him to grin.

“I’ll see you out there,” he called as he slipped out the bamboo french doors and into the night.

I sighed and shook my head. Spencer Ford sure knows how to surprise a girl, I thought to myself as I slipped back into my sundress—but no shoes since I figured we’d be walking the beach after dinner and they’d just get in the way.

A few moments later, after fixing my hair to be sure it wasn’t all over the place, I made my way out onto the side patio and down to the sand, being careful not to trip in the dark.

When I looked up, I couldn’t believe my eyes. There, on the beach, was the most gorgeous setup I’d ever seen and Spencer standing right in the middle of it all.

He had arranged for our dinner to be ocean side—complete with a table and chairs, a rose petal walkway and about a million candles. It was absolutely beautiful and I brought a hand to my mouth, speechless as tears welled up in my eyes.

Spencer walked towards me, the moon and candlelight glow dancing off his strikingly handsome features and he took my hand in his, gently guiding me across the rose petals and the buttery soft sand to our ocean side dinner reservation.

But instead of pulling out my chair for me, Spencer Ford got down on one knee. He looked up at me with sincerity in his eyes and said, “I was going to do this after dinner, but I just can’t wait any longer…”

I gasped and covered my mouth with both hands, unable to believe this was really happening.

“Emily, I’ve loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you. And that love has only grown with each passing day.
