Chapter 14

Bella jumped down from the truck and walked to the front door opening it quick. At the back of the house she let the dogs inside. They were jumping up and down trying to give her love.

“Hey babies. I missed you too,” she cooed. Bella took them in the kitchen and retrieved their gourmet dog biscuits. She gave them biscuits kissing the tops of their head.

“You are so spoiling them,” Chaz said rubbing their backs. “They are killers.”

Bella ignored him and walked out of the kitchen to the bedroom. She put their overnight bag down and grabbed fresh pajamas. Inside the bathroom she took an uninterrupted shower. The engagement ring glistened under the warm water and Bella contemplated being married to Chaz. There would always be a never-ending stream of women throwing themselves at Chaz. His reputation would always precede him and he would leave a wake of broken hearts. He was handsome and well off with plenty of charisma. Bella realized that the same thing they saw in Chaz was what she originally saw in him. She was fortunate enough to have gotten to know the real man. It was a version of Chaz that they would never know. They also would never know what it was like to have him love them. Trinity wanted Chaz to love her, not just lust after her, but he was incapable of having that feeling until he met Bella. She knew this every day and would know it for the rest of her life.

Bella left the bathroom dressed in the simple pajama pants and tank top. In the kitchen she made a quick pot of spaghetti and garlic bread. While cooking she heard the shower and Chaz appeared a little while later wrapped in a towel. Bella thought he was so damn sexy in a towel but Trinity’s pain laced voice interrupted her naughty thoughts.

“Thanks for making dinner,” Chaz said with a rye smile. Bella sat at the counter and finished eating dinner mumbling a quick, “You are welcome.”

Bruiser was at her side putting on his best friendly face wanting whatever she was eating. Bella informed him he was not getting any and he continued to stare. Chaz sat next to Bella in the towel eating the spaghetti. Bella never wanted to be in Trinity’s spot. Trinity loved a man that was physically and emotionally incapable of loving her back. The plate made a noise when she placed it in the dishwasher, jolting her from her thoughts. Bella poured two glasses of juice and downed her glass quickly. Chaz took a huge swig from his glass before returning to his spaghetti.

In the bedroom Bella grabbed her cell phone and read the messages from Kennedy. For a while they texted back and forth, Kennedy indicated that she was angry with Horatio and wasn’t talking to him right now. Bella insisted that she hear the man out considering she loved him. Kennedy was pissed when Bella suggested she should have been more aggressive when the girl was hitting on Horatio.
