Chapter 7
I arrived at Pane Rustica around seven and quietly walked to the back door. I was a little surprised to find it unlocked. I wasn't convinced Brady was going to follow through on our deal. I stalked through the kitchen toward the sound of tango music.
I peeked around the corner and there was Brady. He was dressed to impress. Tight dark slacks matched a silk shirt which hugged his chest. He also had a huge smile on his face.
"Welcome, Linc!"
I stepped out from behind the corner and raised my arms in the universal gesture that said "What the fuck?"
"Sit down," Brady said as he motioned toward a single table with a glowing candle and two plates of food. I could see a huge prime rib, baked potatoes, rice and half-filled glasses of champagne.
"What is this?" I asked.
"Sit down," he said as he pulled out a chair.
"What happened? Did Quentin and his floozy change their minds?"
"Umm... yeah. Something like that."
I took a seat and looked at the food in front of me. Brady took the seat opposite me and picked up a fork.
"Dig in," he said.
I've never been one to waste food and it had been awhile since I ate anything like prime rib. I cut into that first, dipped it in the au jus, and slipped it into my mouth. A small moan escaped my lips as I savored the incredible taste.
"Good?" he asked me.
"So frackin' tender," I murmured. I had a few more bites of the prime rib before taking bites of rice and potato.
I wasn't paying attention to Brady, but when I looked up, he was looking at me.
"What?" I said around a mouthful of food.
"You're very interesting, Rainbow Brite. In everything you do, even eating, apparently; So much gusto."
I rolled my eyes and Brady chuckled. I tried to keep eating but felt Brady's eyes on me. I looked up, he was still watching me.
"Can you please stop that?"
"Stop what?"
"Looking at me. I can't eat when you're watching me."
"So you can't eat or pee while you're being watched?"
I was about to ask how he knew I couldn't piss while being watched, but I remembered the incident on the yacht.
"Oh, yeah," I replied. "I am strangely pee shy. If I'm having sex with a guy, I have no problem pulling out my prick. But put me in a public bathroom and my cock is like a turtle hiding in its shell."
Brady laughed. It was hearty laugh and it made me smile.
"It's not funny! Those huge piss troughs where you have to elbow your way in are the worst!"
"So interesting," Brady said. "Very, very interesting."
"So what's with the Rainbow Brite nickname?" I asked.
Brady was quiet for a moment. "Originally it was a sarcastic comment about your intelligence, about you being not-so-bright. But then when I learned you were gay and the rainbow thing worked even better."
I nodded.
"I don't think you’re dumb, Linc, not at all. I think you're a decent guy, one I wouldn't mind getting to know better. The nickname is meant to be affectionate, but if you don't like it, I'll stop using it.
