I walk away from my man, and I can’t help but think that this is what it feels like to be ‘floating on cloud nine.’

Yes, I can call him ‘my man’ now. I think he feels the same way about me that I do about him.

Not even the honking of a fellow motorist can sour my mood. I guess I’m driving too slow for him, but I’m just reliving the great day I’ve had today, replaying each glorious moment in my head over and over again.

I shoot him a peace-up sign and just smile.

I hope Harry can reconcile with his dad. I find it sad that they are both still alive and have not seen each other in such a long time. I’m looking forward to meeting his parents.

I’ve never known my dad. My mom has point blank refused to discuss him with me, just saying he was some Hollywood producer that knocked her up. It’s always only been the two of us, when she was available. I suppose in her own way, she tried hard to be her version of a good mother. The fact that she had me at such a young age probably doesn’t help either.

My phone vibrates inside my handbag. Scratching around in my bag, I pull it out.

Private number?

“Hey kid, are you going to slam the phone down on me again?” She asks before I can get a word in edgewise. I’m surprised to hear my mother’s voice on the other side.

“Why is your number on private?”

“I wasn’t sure you’d take my call,” she says. “You did slam down the phone the last time we spoke, and you’ve never done that before.”

I know she’s trying to guilt-trip me. It’s not going to work anymore. Been there, done that.

“What can I do for you, mom?” I enquire politely. I know she wants something from me. When she refers to me as ‘kid,’ and she makes a concerted effort to contact me, she always wants something.

“I wanted to find out if I can come see you? I’ll be in your neck of the woods for a few days, since we’re shooting in your area.”

I’m a bit reluctant to meet up with her, but then decide to give her another chance. Perhaps if she sees that I have a boyfriend now, and a hot one at that, her attitude towards me might change. A girl can only hope.

Tomorrow’s not an option. There’s no way I’m missing my appointment with Harry.

“I can meet you the day after tomorrow,” I tell her, “where would you like to meet?”

“Can we meet at your place? We can decide what to do when we meet. Oh, and Bree… Dress nice.”

I decide to ignore her dig. “Ok, Angelika, can we make it around my lunchtime, I’ll take an extended lunch break. That’s the best I can do.”

“It’s not like I expect you to take a few hours off for your mother,” she replies, her voice dripping with sarcasm. I choose to ignore her jibe, else this conversation will start going downhill fast.
