MOISTURIZE WITH SHEA BUTTER

Shea butter has often been called your skin’s “best friend,” namely because it has such exemplary moisturizing properties. It comes from the seed of a shea tree, hence its name, and one of its main components is vitamin A, which can help various skin conditions, wrinkles and dry skin included. Surprisingly, the moisturizers found in shea butter are the same ones that the sebaceous glands in your skin make, according to the American Shea Butter Institute.
In one study, the moisturizing effect lasted up to eight hours after its original application. Because of its antioxidants, shea butter has also been called an anti-inflammatory, and might be able to protect your skin from environmental irritants. Some studies even suggest that shea butter can increase collagen and decrease the appearance of wrinkles caused by sun exposure.
Look for shea butter that’s raw and unrefined—in other words, a grade A shea butter. It comes in five grades ranging from A to E, and the American Shea Butter Institute recommends choosing grade A for optimal results. You can even check for the Institute’s seal on any product you buy. Then use it as frequently as you need.
