Mordecai sobbed loudly outside the palace. When Queen Esther heard him, she asked, “What’s wrong?”

“You must talk to the king!” he pleaded. “Or we will all die!”

“I can’t!” Esther replied in fear. “It’s against the law to go to the king unless he has sent for you. He could have me killed!”

“Perhaps you were chosen to be queen for this reason,” said Mordecai. “You must use your position to save your people.”

“I’ll need God’s strength,” she said. “Ask everyone to FAST and pray. Then I will go to the king, even though I may die.”
