— BACK TO TAD FOR THE FINAL LAP —

“Text me?” Tad asked. “Between clients or something?” Coming to a stop beside his Jeep, he really didn’t want to go. All that sex had made him sleepy and now he wanted to… spoon.

“Sure.” Scott smiled. “Though I’d rather call.”

Tad rested his backside against the door. “Then call. Just make sure it’s during my—” His words dropped off as Scott caged him in, hands bracing beside his head. “During my, um, lunch break. Don’t wanna… get me fired.”

“I don’t?” Scott murmured, easing closer. “Kinda actually thinking I do.”

Fuck, Tad loved that look in his eyes. All feisty and possessive and… yeah. Grinning, he leaned back and shook his head. “No way. Just started my awesome new internship.”

“Intern for me. I’ll show you awesome.”

Tad laughed. “Doing what? Stocking towels?”

“How ‘bout personal assistant.”

“Ah. Back to gofer. Not exactly sweetening the pot.”

Scott smiled and closed the gap between them. “That’s ‘cause you haven’t heard the perks.”

Tad hmm’d as soft lips settled over his and started to move like sex. The lazy kind, though— not the frenzied stuff—that people had after the storm. Because even in the afterglow, atop tangled sheets, they still needed more. Of each other.

“Fuck it,” he conceded, voice going soft. “I’m in. Why not. Who needs a stupid career.”

Scott chuckled against his mouth. “So overrated.”

“Lamest frickin’ concept ever.” All joking aside, though, it was getting late. And Tad really freaking needed to—

“Stay,” Scott murmured. “Crash here. Don’t go.”

Whoa... Tad’s chest did some stupid swoony thing. But then he closed his eyes. Damn it. That shit was so not fair. When Scott used his voice like that. Making it sound all sad and sultry, as a tool to get his way. Which he got all the time—the shrewd motherfucker—because Tad was such a doormat. At least where Scott and his voice were concerned. But Tad couldn’t stay, regardless of how bad he wanted to. No, he had to resist.

Opening his eyes, he met Scott’s gaze and—Oh, for fuck’s sake. Was he serious? Shoulders slumped, face down, Scott peered at him sadly, up through thick black lashes. More fucking meltage, that son of a bitch. God, he was such a cheater!

Groaning through a chuckle, Tad shook his head. “Fuck, Scott. I can’t. I wish I could. But my clothes, my security badge… everything’s at home.”

Scott made a small, dejected sound. “Fine. Tomorrow. Pack a bag.”

Tad laughed. “I can’t do tomorrow, either. Got that gig with my friends at the gym.”

“So? It’s Tuesday. Come by when you’re done.”

“I can’t,” Tad sighed. “Have that huge paper due. Need every spare minute to work on it.”

“Well, shit.” Scott frowned. “Okay. Whatever. But definitely this fucking weekend.”

Tad’s insides lit with a fuzzy warmth. Scott’s persistence was nice. Made him feel wanted. “Alright. A sleepover. This weekend. It’s a date. Want me to bring my sleeping bag?”

Scott’s killer smile spanned his whole freaking face. “Nah. S’all good. We can both share mine. ‘Cause, you know, I’m hospitable like that.”

Tad chuckled.
