Xander, Spencer, and I crashed at Xander’s place and while he updated Eastbridge Eyes with all the events that happened at the party, Spencer curled up beside me on the couch and whispered in my ear. “Have you ever seen Xan with a girl?”

“He’s with girls all the time.” I slid my hand down her back and squeezed her ass.

“No, I mean like fucking with a girl,” she said.

“Oh…like intimately? A few times he had me wondering if he was straight but not too many times. As far as actually being with a girl? He’s flirted before. If he ever fucked the ones he flirted with, he never told me.” I shrugged my shoulders and then said, “Why are you asking me that?”

“He told me how good I looked in my dress tonight. Like, really good.”

“Xan?” I laughed a little then remembered the times I’d caught him staring at a girl’s titties or making comments about how good a girl looked. I figured gay men still appreciated the view. Now, hearing about him complimenting Spence made me think twice. I couldn’t handle that train of thought. Not right then. I had too many other things on my mind like my mother blowing my phone up.

I knew if I saw her after what happened at the police station, I’d end up getting locked up again. I was at Xander’s to calm the fuck down and try to figure out where to go from here.

“We’ll figure that shit out later,” I remarked. “Still no word on where Leigh and Natasha are?” I quizzed. I looped Spencer’s cashmere-soft curl around my fingers then let it go, watching the quiet way it bounced.

“I asked the Dahlias and they said last they saw, Natasha was headed toward Leigh’s house. They could still be there.”

“I know y'all not planning to go to Leigh’s house after tonight. Lay low,” Xander said over his shoulder.

“For once, I agree with Xander. You know normally I’d be ready to charge into battle, but this requires finesse.” She examined her nails, stretching her fingers out like cat claws.

“Finesse? I can see your wheels turning already,” I told her.

“They are. They’re turning rapidly.” Her dark smile was there, lighting up those cognac eyes.

“What’s on your mind, Spence?” Xander asked. He typed something in and then looked at me, waiting.

“Natasha has to go first,” she said, holding up a finger in the air. “Then Leigh. Then Mom.”

“What?” Xander and I both looked at her like she was crazy.

“I was rocking with you on Natasha and Leigh but your mother?” Xander shook his head.

“Why the fuck not? She’s a heartless bitch. She killed my father. She wanted to throw Case in jail and let him stay there. She needs to go.” She made a slicing motion in the air with her hand.

“You can’t have three dead bodies pop up after everything that happened here tonight, though,” I pointed out.

“I didn’t say they all had to die, but they definitely have to go.”

I slipped my hand under the sweatshirt she had on and rubbed her stomach absentmindedly while she plotted.
