Malcolm zipped up his dick so fast, he pinched the skin. The pain would’ve dropped him any other time, but it was the more desirable outcome compared to being caught with his cock waving in the face of this guy’s sister.

“I’ll be right up.” Patience scrambled off him, an adorable blush cresting over her cheekbones. She tugged at her clothing until it didn’t look like he’d been copping feels wherever possible.

He sat up, wincing at the agony of the seam of his fly digging into his hard-on.

Couldn’t get it hard for weeks without major stimulation and now he couldn’t get it to go away.

The greedy way Patience looked at it was more than a male could ask for. She hadn’t looked like she was hungry for what he could do for her, but what she could do to him. And he’d wanted to know. More than anything in his life, he wanted to know what she wanted to do to him.

“You’re okay?” Jacob’s relieved voice slashed into his thoughts, but thankfully the brother stayed put upstairs. “Lord, when the police contacted me, I rushed straight here.”

Patience tossed him an apologetic—and regretful—smile over her shoulder and jogged upstairs. Her voice faded as she drew Jacob farther into the house and away from catching them together on the couch.

Malcolm sat up and scrubbed his face. What the hell was he doing? Patience was his job. He might have to scrub her mind. She might still be hiding stuff that was pertinent to his life and the safety of his people. But none of that had mattered when she lay in his arms.

None of that had mattered when she was in danger. He would fight for her and this little spot of tranquil paradise and her menagerie of animals.

All the furniture was still askew. He could fix that before he went upstairs. Then he’d go up there and do his job. Talk to Jacob, get a sense for what he knew and what he was hiding.

Fixing the furniture gave his dick enough time to go down, but he had to take his time.

Patience coming apart in his arms—

Blood coursed back down to his groin. He sucked in deep breaths and rearranged the couch and checked the soap closet.

Travis hadn’t destroyed any of her hard work. If he had, Malcolm would be too tempted to track him down and beat him for every bar of soap he damaged.

Finally, he was ready to meet Jacob.

He followed the voices. They were in the living room.

“…if he hadn’t been here.” Defensiveness laced Patience’s tone.

“But Brenden and Delia showed up.”

“Yeah, they heard my yells. But what if they hadn’t?”

“I still don’t like it.”

Malcolm stood on the kitchen side of the entryway. Jacob had to know he could hear. Malcolm studied him. A few inches shorter than him, Jacob had darker hair that brushed the tops of his ears and a surprisingly defined physique for a guy with an office job. Despite that, he had an approachable air, a persona that drew others to him instead of scaring them away.
