Chapter Twenty-Four: Kapri

“Do you want to tell me what the three of y’all are doing here? Chicago got both of you dumb asses up in here looking like sister wives.” I rolled my eyes at Nelly because she was exaggerating. Ivana wasn’t any competition in my eyes. She was there for my man when I wasn’t able to, so for that, I was allowing her to spend some time with my man.

“Nelly, hush, it’s not even that serious.”

“Bish if it ain’t. That’s the same bitch that tried to beat your ass with a crow bar.”

“Look, shit isn’t what it seems. Chicago thinks he’s teaching me a lesson by keeping her around. I wasn’t there for him when he needed me most, but she was.”

We ordered our drinks at the bar before I gave her the short story of what happened. Repeating the story to Nelly had me fucked up all over again. Hearing the words come out my mouth helped me realize just how childish I have been acting with Chicago. Whenever shit got heated, my ass would run off, or run off at the mouth instead of following my man’s lead.

“I told you not to block his number. Your ass just don’t listen.”

“I already know I fucked up. I don’t need to hear it coming from you.” I took a sip of my drink, trying to calm myself down. I was already kicking myself in the ass for the bullshit I did, I didn’t really need Nelly kicking me while I was down.

“Kapri, never feel like I’m kicking you while you’re down,” she said as if she was reading my mind. “If I was some fake bitch, then I would agree with your behavior, but fake isn’t in my blood. I’m a real friend, so I’ma tell you when you’re wrong or when you’re going above and beyond. You’re hard headed. I know it, Chicago knows it, and so does everyone else. You don’t listen, and that’s your problem. I have never seen you or Chicago as happy as I see y’all when y’all are together. For this relationship to work, y’all are both gonna have to work on y’all communication skills.”

“I know Nelly, but shit be hard sometimes. Chicago feels like he can talk to me however he wants and that’s because all these other chicks he messed with allowed him to do and say whatever.”

“It ain’t shit to tame a dog or teach the nigga new tricks.”

“I hear that,” I raised my glass, clicking mine with Nelly’s. “Oh, and don’t think I don’t notice this glow you got going on.”

“I have no clue what you’re talking about,” she giggled.

“Tell that lie to someone who doesn’t know you. Now spill it. Tah gave you the business didn’t he? I know he did. No dude can last sixty days without sex.”

“No, he didn’t sex me, but he did give me some tongue action,” Nelly squealed. I joined in on her giggling because I was truly happy for my girl. Two years without sex was a long ass time.
