Most people would look at Marisol and see her as nothing more than a selfish, entitled brat. That’s what she wanted most people to see…the rich girl. But that wasn’t all there was to her. She was so much more.

Through all the bullshit, I really had missed her.

Back in the day, she was always there for me when I needed her. Always there to listen. Always there to bail me out of whatever trouble I was in. Back then, she knew me better than anyone, and we had a special connection. I missed that.

“Listen,” I started. “I’m not ready to forgive you yet, and I am not going to jump back into anything, but maybe we can be friends and see where things go.”

She smiled a genuine warm smile. “I’d like that.”

“You mind if I hang out for awhile? I’m not sure I am ready to go home yet.”

She didn’t say anything but pulled out a deck of cards and shot me a sly smile.

“Poker?” I asked.

“Go Fish.” She replied.

I laughed so hard tea shot out of my nose. We spent the rest of the day laughing and catching up as I tried to forget the beautiful blonde who was slowly breaking my heart.
