All the details that screamed the fact that Gabe was gone. He was really gone. It was not a guilt trip or a way to get him to come back. The man had left.

Shayne was out the door and jumping back into the truck before Beau had even parked. The whiteness of his face was not surprising. It was not the first time he had scared the other man, and he was sure it wouldn’t be the last.

“What the hell?” Beau’s voice came out in a gasp.

“The Clearwater Lake. Drive.” Shayne knew his eyes must still be fully black, for Beau obeyed with only a nod.
