Chapter Six
Shea gripped Viktor’s hand so tightly he was surprised the older man didn’t object. His feelings flipped between excited and completely terrified. While Shea wanted to blame his emotional turmoil on the pregnancy hormones, he knew they weren’t solely responsible for his inner freak-out.
His gaze was glued to the screen, the cold gel on his belly forgotten. What looked like blobs to Shea were—according to sexy Doctor Ian—Shea’s triplets.
“Oh, God. Look at them,” Viktor whispered. He looked and sounded awed and halfway in love with the blobs.
And they were Viktor’s triplets, too.
Fucking hell.
The alpha was pushing fifty. Would Viktor hate him if Shea told him the truth? Sure, he’d tried to contact Shea. That didn’t mean he’d be willing to raise three kids with him. Shea wasn’t sure if he wanted to cry or throw up. How the hell could he juggle three cubs alone?
Juri’s offer—which he had repeated that morning—came to mind. Should Shea consider it? Did he want to be tied to Juri while he was—maybe, possibly—in love with Viktor after one magical night of earth-shattering sex? Shifters didn’t bond that fast.
“Shea?” Viktor asked quietly. “Don’t panic. You’re not alone anymore. You’ll never be alone again.”
Shea looked up, and when he saw Viktor gazing at him with pure adoration, his tears finally spilled. He couldn’t describe how good those words felt, how much he needed to hear them. And in that moment, he realized he’d never be happy with Juri. He belonged to Viktor.
“Thank you,” he croaked. “I can’t... Can you take me home?”
“Of course. Ian?”
The doctor grinned. “I advise a healthy diet, rest, and fresh air. You’ve lost weight, but not enough to worry about. Your body is fit, and perfectly capable of carrying the cubs.”
“I’m fit now,” Shea mumbled. “I don’t want to think about my hairy belly round like a huge watermelon.”
Ian snorted as he cleaned Shea’s belly.
“What about vitamins?” Viktor asked.
“Plenty of fruit will do just fine.” Ian rolled over to his desk and added some notes to Shea’s brand-new file.
Shea blushed when Viktor helped him off the table. He quickly buttoned his pants and sighed. “I’ll need maternity pants soon.”
“Yoga pants would be great.” Ian chuckled. “My mate loves them.”
“We’ll get some.” Viktor still had that happy smile on his face.
Shea wondered how much more radiant he’d look if he knew the cubs were his. He had to come clean. He wanted a chance to win not only Viktor’s affection, but his love as well. And soon.
