Wisteria

Here I used a combination of brush drawing and free colour.

Painting this wisteria required great control, so I mapped out a loose sketch with a brush to guide my areas of colour.

Given the chance, watercolours have a life of their own as they move and evolve and you will soon begin to anticipate creating happy accidents with colour. I have learned to appreciate the uncontrollable nature of this poetic and free-spirited medium by developing my own method of application. I approach it with respect, but I remain in charge by using Laban’s efforts combined with timing and flow.
