Chapter 16:
Blue Fire
âI am going for Gemma.â The words uttered with upmost certainty left those in the room under no illusion that Kabelâs immediate target was clear irrespective of the other factors at play.
âUnderstand we need to free Gemma but reports are coming in that Zylar is moving his troops into position and the Xonians are already attacking our main cities,â said Walter calmly. If it was anyone else speaking the words, Kabelâs reaction may have been stronger. Walter, fresh from spending every conceivable minute in the control room sifting through the historic communications with the support of Blackstone and Tyther specialists, suppressed or hidden by Corderâs men, was keen to share his findings. Kabel held his frustration in check and listened. Tyson sat calmly at the corner of the table, listening to the debate from all those present, including Morrison divulging what he knew of Corderâs and the Cabalâs plans, taking a major part in the strategy. Tate was vocal, Kron silent, Belina forceful in backing up her brother and Bronstorm now and then contributing in a manner that belied his youth. However, it was Walter who took centre stage. Through his search of the Elanda database, he found the transcripts that Gemma was in Zylarâs medieval castle in the Eastern Quadrant. When Kabel heard this he erupted, throwing the refreshments served to the group over the floor and banging his fist on the table. His anger was reminiscent of his brotherâs anger and was very different from his usually well-controlled emotions.
âHey, bro, thatâs my job to lose it,â said Tyson with a sardonic grin splashed over his face. Kabel grimaced at the dig, though the words did have the desired effect much to the relief of those watching. Tyson let out a silent thank you to God, Tucan or whoever was listeningâ¦sometimes his brother surprisingly scared the living daylights out of himâ¦Kabel sat down fuming.
Contrary to others thoughts, Kabel did listen to the inputs from the parties but his gaze always swept across to Tyson. He like everyone was shocked that the dark powers were back. He was thankful that his brother seemed to be more balanced and with Amelia now sitting up in bed and catching up with the gossip, usually dispensed by the firecracker, Eva, his demeanour was relaxed. Tyson heard Kabelâs unspoken thoughts and smiled. He could see all the thoughts and concerns on those around him. Knowing that his mother was now in the prison in the Core, as a pawn against him, irritated the hell out of him but he was able to calm his temper, something unknown before. Having Amelia back and on the road to recovery did calm him down it was true, though he was a different Tyson, in control of his wildest emotions. He knew only too well what happened when he lost control.
Control.
That one-word present, echoing its importance to his and others well-being. He still battled with the demons that the indigenous methir created within him, he could
