Bridging: It's as Easy as 1–2–3

Draw a rectangular format and divide it horizontally somewhere above the center with a light line, then again vertically to the right of center. Where they cross is a good spot for the center of interest. Begin developing a pattern of middle darks, as in Rectangle 1. Rectangle 2 shows the completed bridge, and Rectangle 3 shows the addition of the vertical bridge. Create as much variety as possible and think about leaving some lights for the center of interest.
