DINNER'S OVER, AND I must say that was delectable. The mac & cheese was cooked just right, and with the amount of spice was added. And best of all, I was able to get everyone together once again. Ah yes, the social side of my mind is throwing a party at that opportunity.

But there's one thing that nagged me like a spoiled cat begging for attention.

Jared and his self-doubt.

I honestly don’t think that dude realizes how much of an impact he has on me. I could sense it in his tone of voice. Maybe he just doesn't understand that what he did was a preeminent thing for me? Perhaps. While the rest of the team has undoubtedly been helpful to further my skills, it was Jared that put the icing on the cake, and you can't have just the icing.

Knock! Knock!

I readily recognize that tone of knock, and it caused my heart to suddenly beat fast. I turn around, and the door opens. Jared's appealing face pops in, and he's smiling at me slightly.

“Can I come in for a sec?” he asked.

Of course, I’m going to say yes to that question. Anytime for him.

“Yeah, come on in,” I said.

He walks in and shuts the door gently. His gleaming eyes are locked on mine as he walks towards me, and I can already feel a slight chill feeling in the air.

"Thank you for saying what you said to me; it means a lot," he said softly.

I smile intensely, and it warms my heart. There ya go, he’s finally starting to understand what I’m saying.

“So... you’re starting to finally understand what I’m saying?” I asked.

“About?” he giggled.

I’m more than happy to repeat what I said earlier if I have to.

“About how you’re the one that’s helping me improve my skills and get over my fears,” I said.

He’s got a blank expression at first, but that all fizzles into a smirking smile. It’s like a spark just ignited in his mind, and I’m joyous to see it.

“I do my best,” he said.

“And that’s all you’ve got to do,” I said. “And I just want to say thank you for everything you've done."

“You’re welcome,” he smiled, staring down into my eyes.

It's like a more profound connection was just made, one that I've never felt before. Is this what a true friendship feels like? It’s unlike any other I’ve felt before. Or could this be something deeper? Only time will tell.
