Richie smiled as he turned into the traffic. When he asked Sarah earlier, he hadnât expected her to agree. It shocked the hell out of him, but he wouldnât complain. He just needed to be on good behaviour if he could.
Daniel, who sometimes used the apartment when he had to be at the stadium late either very early or later at night, wasnât there when Richie arrived, much to Richieâs relief. He didnât want to explain to Daniel something he hadnât yet figured out.
Richie realised today how much he enjoyed spending time with Sarah. He couldnât mess this up again. Itâs not long now before the end of her contract. Next weekâs session, then a scheduled interview with Riley and after the match on Saturday then it would end. Would she change her mind then? Would she go out with him and give them a chance when they came back from tour?
No, he couldnât put his heart on that. He had too many disappointments already. He wasnât sure he was ready to deal with another. Friendship might be all he could hope for. If thatâs all he could have, he would take it.
It didnât take him long to shower and changed, and thirty-five minutes after he dropped Sarah off, he knocked on her door again. Although she told him she only needed half an hour, Richie hadnât expected her to be ready.
Richie almost changed his mind about the friendship thing or waiting until after the tour to convince Sarah when she opened the door. The subtle smell of her perfume filled his nostrils at the same time he took in her appearance. To hide the effect she had on him in a simple outfit of jeans, combined with a white peasant shirt, Richie grinned, âYe look pretty, Princess and ye were quick. A woman after my own heart,â he added after a moment.
âWow, Richie, a compliment and in perfectly pronounced English. Iâm impressed.â
âI think we better leave, Princess. Yer getting sassy again,â he said with a mock frown. But when Sarah grinned, Richie turned to swallow his drool before she could see.
