Chapter Ten

“Five more months?! Are you kidding me? You were supposed to be married next month!”

“We can’t get married like this!” Tyson pointed to the cast on his right leg. It was only a sprain but his agency didn’t want to take any chances. Luca shook his head and his hair (that he needed to get cut) fell onto his forehead. He blew it away irritably and continued his argument.

“You’ve always been dramatic about your ‘injuries’ but seriously Ty, don’t you think this is too much? Won’t it heal in like, six weeks?”

“The sprain will heal but then there’s the physical therapy.”

“Another six weeks. Why do you need four more months after that?”

Tyson was silent. Luca stared, waiting for an answer when Andy spoke up from the seat beside him.

“I think he wants to make sure he’s back in shape. He’ll be taking two months off from his regular work outs.”

Luca whirled to glare at his brother. “Are you serious? You want four extra months to tone your calves?”

Luca needed to calm down. He grabbed his smoothie and chugged. He pretended the brain freeze didn’t hit him but Andy must’ve noticed since he took the drink away.

“You two act like a real married couple.” Tyson smiled, desperate to change the subject.

Luca just glared at him again. “Well it’s been almost three months, we’re bound to learn at least a little something about each other.”

“Of course! Of course.” Tyson laughed nervously, not sure how to read his brother.

Luca could tell Tyson missed the sarcasm. Truth be told, he rather wished Ty would leave so he talk about him behind his back. Luca knew Andy didn’t care much for him anyway and while that bothered him at first, he was starting to see Ty in whole new light. Luca sat in silence knowing it made Tyson uncomfortable. He didn’t want to talk to him but he could tell Andy had a few questions for his brother.

“Just out of curiosity, but how did you sprain your foot?”

“Shin.”

“You sprained your shin? I didn’t even know that was possible.”

“It’s probably just shin splits. Ty’s a big baby.”

“Luc, be nice. He’s in a cast.”

“He probably asked for one.” Andy gave him a look so Luca mimed zipping his lips.

Ty looked between the two of them with a mixture of jealousy and a need to defend himself.

“Actually, it is possible and the doctor wanted to cast it, not me. I was at a shoot last week and I happened to trip on some equipment that was lying around. Believe me, I did not want to go to the hospital; it was embarrassing enough just to fall.”

“Does my aunt know about the delay?”

“She does.”

“What was her reaction?”

“Well, she wasn’t happy at first but decided it was better after all. That way…”

The way he trailed off had Andy and Luca sitting up a little straighter.

“That way what?”

“That way they’ll be more time for…for…”

“Finding a surrogate?” Andy guessed.

Ty nodded and Luca coughed.

“Is she really thinking that? Andy, didn’t you tell her last time that we decided to wait on having kids?”

“I did.
