When they got back to Meganâs house, Wanda went to her bed in the living room, curled up, and immediately closed her eyes.
âWow, Anna, I think we wore Wanda out,â Megan said. âThat doesnât happen very often.â
âSheâs not the only one,â Rebekah said. âIâm sitting on this couch and watching the Kids Baking Challenge. Would anyone like to join me?â
âI do,â Megan said, dropping on the other end of the couch and putting her feet up.
âWhat about me?â Anna asked from where she stood in front of them with her hands on her hips.
âHow about this?â Megan sat up and pulled the ottoman in front of them so they could all prop their feet up. She scooted closer to Rebekah but left enough room for Anna to sit between them.
Anna stepped on top of the ottoman and dove into the space between them. She giggled when Megan and Rebekah both tickled her.
âDoes anyone need anything?â Megan asked as she leaned up and looked at Rebekah and Anna. âA pillow? A blanket?â
âOoohh, a blanket might be nice,â Rebekah purred.
âKick your shoes off and Iâll be right back.â Megan disappeared down the hall and came back with a blanket. She spread it out over Rebekah and Anna and then bowed. âCan I get you ladies anything else?â
Rebekah looked at Anna, her eyebrows raised, and Anna shook her head.
âThank you, maâam. Would you join us?â Rebekah asked in a queenly accent.
Anna threw one end of the blanket back so Megan could snuggle under with them.
Once they were all settled Megan leaned over and said to Anna, âDonât you dare fall asleep.â
âThatâs right,â Rebekah said, sitting up. âWe still have to eat supper and have bathtime.â
Anna giggled. âI wonât.â She looked at the TV and asked, âOkay, who do you think will be leaving tonight?â
They watched the show and commented on the different bakersâ offerings. Anna rested her head on Rebekahâs shoulder for a while and then Meganâs. When she got quiet Rebekah looked down to make sure she wasnât asleep.
When the episode was over, Anna asked, âCan we watch another one?â
âLetâs have supper and you still have to take a bath. You played hard today.â
âI had fun at the river. Can we do it again?â
âItâs one of our favorite places. Of course we can do it again,â Rebekah said.
âIs that where you and Megan used to go when you were friends before?â
âWe did.â Rebekah looked at Megan and smiled.
âYou know, Bekah, I think it was more fun having Anna with us. What do you think?â Megan looked down at Anna and grinned.
Rebekah pretended to be thinking and furrowed her brow and then she looked up and down before finally laughing. âYes, it was definitely more fun with Anna.â
âYouâre both funny sometimes.â Anna giggled.
âFunny? What do you mean funny?â Megan asked, feigning seriousness.
Anna giggled.
âDo you mean funny like this?â Rebekah tickled her and Annaâs laughter echoed around the room. Wanda jumped on the couch and joined in, licking Annaâs face.
âStop! Stop!â Anna cried breathlessly.
Rebekah stopped and Megan grabbed Wanda while they all laughed with Anna.
