Richard placed his hand on hers. They stood next to each other, pulling comfort from the other.

“What can I do?” he asked.

“I have no idea. Support Joy. Fire that bitch.”

“Mum,” Peter’s shocked voice rang out from the doorway.

Trina gasped, “Sorry son. I didn’t mean you to hear that.” A sudden panic flowed through her, “What else did you hear?”

“Only that Joy needs support. Has something else happened.”

“No. It’s okay. She needs lots of hugs from us like I told you. Anything else?”

“Only that you want someone fired. Who do you want fired?”

“No one you know, love. Just someone at work.”

“Oh, okay. What’s for tea?”

“And on that note, I’d best get on and get the tea ready for these munchkins. Why don’t you go back into front room? Put on the telly, relax.”

“Okay. I have a couple of phone calls I have to make first. May I go out into your garden?”

“Certainly.”
