Chapter 11
Knocking on Heavenâs Door
How could something be the most beautiful thing one laid eyes onâand the most frightening? The question hovered in Tamâs mind while he stood at the threshold of the bedroom, staring at Davidâs bed. He again anticipated David ushering him through the door and throwing him onto the bed without reservation, doing as he pleased, taking what he wanted. Once more, the idea didnât totally disagree with Tam. Yet, as before, David surprised him by maintaining control and acting as casually as if Tam being there in his bedroom was a natural part of their daily routine.
David left Tam standing there contemplating the bed and whether he was truly ready for thisâknowing it didnât matter at this point if he was or not, it was going to happenâand entered the adjoining bathroom, leaving the door open behind him.
Focused on the bed, Tam was barely aware of the shower running until David touched his back. Tam flinched, unaware the man had returned to the bedroom. David peeled off Tamâs shirt.
âI thought maybe a hot shower would feel nice,â he said quietly as his eyes traveled over Tamâs torso when he dropped the wet garment to the floor. âWash away the chill of the rain.â He raised his eyes to Tamâs face. âSound good to you?â
His fingertips played softly up and down Tamâs arms in a feathery caress. What was he waiting for? Why was he bothering with all the pleasantries? Taking his time getting what he really wanted from Tam? It made no sense.
Donât do this. Tam trembled. Donât be so nice to me. Donât pretend like Iâm anything more than a one-night fuck to you.
David moved behind him and let his fingertips dance up Tamâs bare back, sending a shiver spiraling through his body. He touched his lips to the back of Tamâs neck. âWell?â he murmured.
âSounds⦠good.â Tam shuddered. And it did. Despite the heat that rushed through him when David held him in his mouth, the chill of the downpour and his drenched clothes had seeped into his bones.
Or perhaps the chill ran deeper⦠into his soul.
Tam closed his eyes and pushed the thought away. If tonight would send him to hellâhe had already passed the point of no return⦠crossed into hellâs jurisdiction. Even if he stopped right now and walked away⦠it was still too late.
Might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb.
His sin was set in stone; no reward in stopping now.
David slid his arms around Tamâs waist and hooked his fingers under the waistband of his pants, slowly shoving them off his hips, dragging his briefs with them. Tam shivered and offered no resistance.
Iâm damned if I do, damned if I doâwho cares anymore?
Tam stepped out of his pants as David pulled them down to his ankles. David rubbed up Tamâs body as he slowly rose to his feet. âYour body is beautiful,â David whispered, kissing the nape of his neck. His lips brushed to the side of Tamâs neck and touched his ear.
