I look at her, frown, and she cackles a laugh, "What with him being dead and all."

I take that as a sign, straighten my jacket, and smile at Jimmy.

He blows a long breath and runs a hand through his hair. His voice is quiet when he finally speaks, "Okay. Have a good night, Eric."

I nod. "You too."

I can't get to my car fast enough, and once there, I lean back in the seat, release my own exasperated breath, and I know it's not just the fact that my cock is frustrated. I'm hiding. I'm running when I think I might get caught. I'm peering around corners so that I can rush in when nobody's looking to take bites at things that I should not taste. What's next? Pointing fingers and laying the blame on someone else if I do get found out?

And just like that, I'm fourteen again, and I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. On the one side is the part of me that's blazing with the desire to stalk back to the basement door, bang with both my fists until Jimmy answers, force him to the floor, and fuck him until he's screaming my name. On the other side is the part of me that is shaking with tension; the me that wants to choke him out while hissing, "Why are you making me feel like this? Can't you see how this is going to fuck up my life? Haven't you figured out that what you do to me is fucked up and scary and I want to hurt you so that you'll stop?"

I catch my own gaze in the rearview mirror and I glare at it. "I hate you," I say, watching my own lips move. I don't bother to figure out which part of me it is that I'm talking to.
