My novel To Touch the Sun takes place in current day Chicago, but since every good vampire deserves an origin story, one of the chapters is devoted to the vampiric origin of the protagonist, Narain Khan. Narain was 25 when he left his family and native India to fight in the trenches of France during World War I. As he would eventually discover after being wounded during a push across No Man’s Land, the soldiers had more than bullets and bombs to worry about.
