It was around six that evening when Elizabeth arrived at the castle and was met at the door by Kenan. His eyes lit up and he quickly embraced Elizabeth, “I’m so glad to see you. Sire Levi finally called Wesley and let him know what was going on but refused to let him come home.” He looked up at the witch with concerned eyes as he poured out his heart.
Elizabeth embraced the young Elven shifter and gave him a few pats on the back as reassurance, “I’m sure he knows what he’s doing. He’s been doing it for quite some time and will only do what is best for his people. All of his people.” She emphasized the last words to the young elf. “Let’s go in and see Lady Doreen and see if there’s any progress.”
Of all of her visits to the castle, Elizabeth had been upstairs until today. Kenan pulled on her hand as they took the stairwell two steps at a time. Dragging her down the hall, Kenan stopped at the last room on the left. Slowly twisting the doorknob the young elf stood to the side and let Elizabeth in.
As the door swung open, Elizabeth could see the elaborate woodwork that decorated the entire room on the dark cherry wood. A large four-post bed covered in silk and lace sat in the middle of the room with hues of pink that danced across the woman lying in the bed as the sunset filtered in through the curtains.
Slowly Elizabeth made her way over to the bed, while she had come every day to check on the woman, today she was allowed to actually see her. She reached out and took the woman’s hand in her own and gently caressed the soft skin on the back of her hand. Whispering to the woman, “I don’t know what happened. But I hope you wake up soon. I’ve discovered who Stephon is but I don’t know how to reach him. If what I’ve found out is true my mother’s twin lives but not in this realm.” Behind her Elizabeth heard a quiet commotion turning to see Jewel and her father along with the other fairy elders. “well hello. What’s going on?”
Sire Levi walked into the room demanding that Kenan leave. The defiant young elf stormed out as Elizabeth stood shocked. Walking up to her Levi spoke quietly, “they’ve come to help. You’re welcome to say but you need to stand back and let them do their work.” Elizabeth nodded and took a place along the far wall allowing the fairies to surround elven woman.
As the fairies linked their hands creating a circle around Lady Doreen, they began to chant and sway. As the moments passed, the bodies of the fairies began to take on a light glow. With each passing moment, the chant became faster and the glow became brighter until Elizabeth could no longer look directly at them. With her hands over her eyes, Elizabeth had to look down as the fairy magic began its work.
