All right, he wasn’t ever going to be able to be the most poetic husband. And maybe this was never going to be the kind of fancy that she wanted, though she had done a good job of pretending that she was impressed by it.

Maybe her standards had just lowered enough from having spent the last couple of weeks in Pyrite Falls.

He could only hope.

He wasn’t going to be able to give her a life that was fancier than the one she’d left behind. Wasn’t going to be able to give her more status. He was never going to be that guy Andrew. Was never going to show up in a fancy, long coat that kind of matched the one that she already wore. Wasn’t going to have those glasses that he thought looked kind of ridiculous but other people seemed to think were sophisticated. Wasn’t going to be polished and smooth.

But he was going to be true to her.

And he was going to make her body feel things that she had never thought possible.

He would keep her satisfied. He would. He’d keep her mindless with this. He would give them both this wonderful, intense pleasure until neither of them could breathe past it. Until it didn’t matter what the hell else there was.

And maybe that flew in the face of not making it about them. Right now, he didn’t the hell care. No. He just didn’t. He couldn’t.

Right now, the only thing was this.
