Just then, all our phones rang. Then Len came running out the house.

“Your boy Peewee and some other young nigga from back here just got shot up coming across the bridge by the Calliope. He's in the hospital.”

“Hello,” I said, answering my phone.

“Your boy just got shot up,” Kim said.

“I heard. Let me hit you back.

“Is he dead?'' I asked Len.

“I don't know .

“A’ight, let’s dip and go check on this nigga,” I said.
