Matilda hummed a tune as she practically skipped toward the seventh princessâs armory. Silber followed behind, if a bit more subdued. As long as one was a knight, they would be excited at the prospect of new armor. Not even Silber was an exception.
When the two opened the doors to the armory, they saw a brown-haired woman already inside. The room itself was extremely large, easily able to fit a hundred people inside. Most of the space was unoccupied except for a few arms on one wall and various equipment ranging from suits of armor to saddles.
âMiss Olga!â Matilda called out.
Olga Muller turned around and blinked. The armory didnât have a clock, so she looked out the window, using the sunâs position to determine the time.
âWhatâs wrong?â Matilda asked as she walked up toward Olga.
âNo, itâs nothing,â Olga said, shaking her head. âWhy are you up so early? Donât you usually wake up until much later?â
âHehe, I couldnât sleep. I couldnât wait to try on my new armor.â
âUnfortunately, it seems that the armor is delayed and wonât arrive until next week.â
âWah? Really?â Matilda asked as she became crestfallen. It was as if she lost all energy in her body as her form slumped.
âPfff!â Olga hid her laughter behind her first. âI was just joking with ya.â
Matilda looked up with teary eyes and glared at her superior. âI hate you.â
âSorry, sorry,â Olga said. âAnyways, you are a bit early. The drake scale mail shouldnât arrive until a bit later.â
The knight captain turned toward Silber. âIâm guessing Matilda told you. It was supposed to be a surprise for everyone, but thereâs no harm in letting you know first.â
âThank you, Captain,â Silber said.
âNo need,â Olga waved her hand. âWhen the armor arrives, you can familiarize yourself with them first and then announce it to your squad.â
Silber smiled. âThank you.â
She didnât know if Olga knew it or not, but allowing her to announce it to the second squad was helping her consolidate her control over the second squad and an indirect acknowledgement. Of course, Silber had the confidence to force her rivals to kneel before her, but she appreciated any help, nonetheless.
âSir Olga, Sir Matilda, I heard that Prince William gifted Her Highness a unique set of armor. I wonder which one it is,â Silber asked.
âNo need to address me as Sir while weâre off duty,â Olga said. âAs for Her Highnessâs armor, I believe itâs stored in her study.â
âI know, I know,â Matilda said. âIt is in her office. I wonder if our armor is going to look as cool as Drachen.â
âDrachen?â Silber asked.
âItâs what Her Highness named her armor,â Matilda said.
âDrachen, as in dragon, huh,â Silber said. âItâs an impressive name.â
âIs that what it means?â Matilda asked.
âYou didnât know?â Silber asked, surprised.
Matilda shook her head. âI just thought it sounded cool.â
She turned toward Olga. âDid you know?â
Olga shifted her eyes. âI donât think the drake scale mail will appear as impressive as Her Highnessâs personal suit of armor. It was something Prince William commissioned just for Her Highness, after all.
