Thereâs something incredibly taking about a woman when sheâs dressed up and you can tell she feels good about herself. In truth, I canât say that she looks more beautiful than ever because Eve always looks stunning. Even when sheâs soaked through in one of her dinosaur or cat-eared hoodies. However, tonight sheâs breathtaking, in every form of the word.
âThe dress looks good on you,â I tell her, putting out the cigarette I was smoking before I meet her at the balcony threshold. âIt looks really fucking good.â
Too good to make it outside the front door without taking advantage of the way the black, heart-shaped bodice strains over her tits, emphasising her tucked waist.
A bashful smile greets me when my eyes rove up to her face. âI draw the line at cannibalism,â she chuckles, smoothing her hands over the top of the full tulle skirt before she brushes her loosely wavy hair over her shoulders.
Grasping one of her hands, I spin her on the spot. Once the whole way round, and a second time so that her back is to me and I can whisper into her ear. âSweet darling, Iâm going to eat your cunt until youâve died at least a few deaths when weâre back later.â
A nervous, sputtering laugh bubbles from her. When she tries to turn around and face me, I hold her still. Taking a quiet moment, I inhale her sweet scent deep into my lungs as she leans back into me.
âDo you like dancing, Eve?â
She shakes her head. âNot really.â The reply surprises me. With her love of music, I thought dancing would be her thing too. Sounds silly now that I think about it, but it made sense before.
âNeither do I,â I tell her, grasping her left hand with my right one in front of her waist and spinning her again to face me. Swaying her from side to side, I give her a breakdown of tonight. âThe car will stop, and Andrew will be waiting to take you inside the hotel through the staff entrance at the back. The offer is still there for you to come with me.â
âIâm okay. Thank you,â she whispers, holding tighter to my arm with her other hand. The heat of her touch seeps through the cotton of my shirt and my skin as I continue swaying us in slow circles around the balcony overlooking the garden and the river.
âDonât thank me. Iâll be making it worth my while later.â
âCan I ask you something?â she ventures, looking up at me. Her teeth gnaw at her deep-red-painted lips. âDo you get anxious before these events?â
âNo.â
âNot even a bit nervous?â The grimace of discomfort on her face makes my chest tighten. âNot even just a teeny tiny bit?â
âNo, I get grumpy. I donât like these farcical things, but as you like to say about me and Hush, itâs a means to an end.â
âYouâre always grumpy, Your Grace,â she laughs softly. After a quiet second, she adds, âI was wrong about thatâ¦or you, mainly.
