Chapter Six

With a handful of artificial snow, Amber Lacey blew them out of her palm, watching them rain down onto the branches of the Christmas tree she was currently decorating.

It was a tiny thing, no more than three feet, but it had been the best she could find since it was terribly last minute considering she hadn’t known whether or not Kyrnon was going to be back in town for the holidays. To say they were behind on the festivities was a bit of an understatement, but she was determined to make up for it before he got home.

Even if it killed her.

So far, she had managed to get the tree the way she wanted it—right across from the Harley Kyrnon was almost finished putting together—and the scent of sugar cookies permeated the air, only adding to the holiday cheer she was adding to his loft. And last, but not least, there was Christmas-themed music crooning through speakers.

This was what it was all about—getting into the holiday spirits, but she was more excited about who she would be spending the day with.

Last year, she hadn’t really felt the need to celebrate. Sure, she had gone out to spend the holidays with her family in California, and that was great and all, but in the back of her mind, she had always thought that something was missing—she just hadn’t realized that that something was Kyrnon.

But she understood that the secrecy was a part of being with him, even if it worried her.

The sound of gears turning was like music to Amber’s ears as her gaze shot to the elevator. Wiping the last of the glitter and snow from her hands along the front of her jeans, she started over for it.

Kyrnon barely had the thing open before she was launching herself at him, slamming so hard into him that he had to take a step back as he caught her. But he didn’t complain, a low chuckle rumbling in his chest as muscled arms circled around her, one slipping further down to cup her ass even as he carried her back into the loft.

“Missed you too, lovie,” he whispered against her hair, a contented breath leaving him as he collapsed back on his large sectional, her in his lap.

She barely had a chance to take a breath before his lips were on hers and she was reminded all too quickly how much she had really missed having him around, even more than the last time he’d been gone.

No one had ever kissed her the way Kyrnon did—as though it was the last time—as though he couldn’t get enough. He
