‘I’m a lot more fun than Roth.’

‘I can attest to that,’ Maude muttered beside her.

Annabel looked at him, then gave him her best smile, the kind that used to get her out of trouble with both her father and her mother. ‘Do you know, I don’t think that is possible.’

‘What’s not possible?’ Dominic asked, strolling into the room. He walked across and dropped a kiss on the top of Annabel’s head, causing Maude to utter a soft gasp and leaving the two gentlemen clearly taken aback by this blatant show of affection. ‘Bellamy. Charteris. And of course the lovely Miss Pennimore.’

Maude blushed. Annabel rather thought that Dominic made a habit of making girls blush. She herself was feeling inclined to do so herself, thanks to that kiss. ‘Viscount Bellamy thinks that he is more fun that you,’ was all she said, however, her voice serene.

Dominic gave a bark of laughter. ‘I’m sure he does.’
